Clean Sheet on the opening day secures leek their 1st point

Leek Men’s 3s played their first game of the season at home against a strong North Stafford side who pushed for promotion last season.

The game started very evenly with Leek applying a constant pressure to the North Stafford defense causing a few passes to go astray from the opposition. Both sides had chances in the first half, however neither side could convert. The first half ended with the scores level at 0-0 with few clear cut chances being created.

The second half started with Leek yet again applying a strong press on the North Stafford defense. The home side continued to win the ball back from the opposition with the Leek forwards showing some good skills and hold up play. North Stafford had a series of short corners in the middle of the second half, however due to some magnificent goal line clearances from Tim Tipper the visitors couldn’t convert.

The game ended 0-0 with both sides happy with a point. Leek’s man of the match went to Tim Tipper for having a really good game at centre back and keeping Leek in the game with his two goal line clearances. A special mention goes to Leek’s debutants Toby Shuttlewood, Ptolemy Edge and Ethan Lewis who all demonstrated great skill and attitude towards the game.
