As we reflect on another fantastic year at Leek Hockey Club, here’s a round-up of the key highlights from both the Management Team and the Company Secretary.

✨ On the Pitch

One of our most successful seasons in recent years!

Promotions secured by:

Men’s 1st XI – now in the National League ?

Ladies’ 1st XI

Men’s 4th XI (largely made up of junior players ?).

Every Saturday we fielded 12 teams (6 Men’s, 4 Ladies’, 2 Badgers) despite injuries and availability challenges.

Both our 1st XIs are almost entirely homegrown Leek players – a huge credit to our junior programme.

Several players represented at County, Midlands, and International levels.

? Juniors & Schools

Expanding junior section with teams at U8 through to U18.

Many juniors earned County and Midlands selection.

Strong partnerships with local schools are helping to grow the future of hockey in our area.

? Facilities & Grounds

Clubhouse roof replaced – thank you to all volunteers who made this happen.

Further upgrades planned: changing rooms, entrance ramps, kitchen, toilets.

Rear wooden wall still requires replacement – a priority for the future.

Our astro turf and football pitches continue to be maintained, providing both playing space and valuable club income.

? Finance

Club is in good financial health.

Annual subscriptions will be frozen for 2025-6 season

Fees and subscriptions collected efficiently with cashless systems.

Spending kept under review to ensure every penny benefits the club and its members.

? Governance & Board Updates

Appointments (Sept 2024): Michael Burnett (Fixed Assets Director), Robert Povey (Company Secretary).

Resignations (Sept 2024): Geoffrey Pointon and Sarah Hooper.

Elections at AGM (July 2025): Robert Povey (Company Secretary), Michael Burnett (Fixed Assets Director), Hockey Director, and one Independent Director.

Club rules reviewed and streamlined – new version to be put to members for approval.

Lease at Leek High School – discussions underway with Talentum Trust for a secure extension or alternative arrangement.

? Community & Social

Hosted major community events: Boots Charity Run, Bonfire Night, Beer Festival (the area’s biggest!).

Raised over £10,000 for a children’s ward safe space bed.

Member events were a huge hit: Juniors’ Christmas Party, Halloween event, End of Season Celebration (140 members attended).

? Looking Ahead – 2025/26

Preparation already underway for our National League journey.

Focus on coaching, recruitment and development.

Continued clubhouse upgrades and facility maintenance.

Ongoing commitment to being at the heart of the community.
