Coach/Assistant Coach Required
Leek Hockey Club are looking for a Coach or Assistant Coach to lead/support the Ladies First Team Squad for Season 2024-25 onwards.
About the Club:
Leek Hockey Club celebrated its Centenary season in 2022-23, the Mens 1st XI play in the Midlands Premier Division and won the Tier 2 National Cup in May 2024, the Ladies team recently played in the Midlands Premier League and are targeting a return to the Division based on a strong youth element to the squad. The club run a total of 13 teams every Saturday across the Mens, Ladies and ‘badgers’ sections. In addition to this the club run an abundance of teams from U6’s all the way through to both Mens and Ladies Masters.
It is a family orientated and welcoming club which also strives to perform at the highest levels possible.
About the Role:
Leek Ladies are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious candidate with a positive coaching mentality and reasonable experience of playing or coaching hockey at either Regional or National League level. Alternatively, there is an opportunity for a less experienced Coach to work alongside a Senior Mentor to assist with weekly training and manage the squad on matchdays.
For either position a proven ability to improve/inspire individuals and a team is preferred, however, this is not necessarily essential if the candidate shows the right mindset and motivation to push the team towards their achievable goal of Midlands Premier League Hockey.
Responsibilities (Lead Coach role):
-Planning and delivering a pre-season timetable incorporating fitness, training and matches
-Planning and delivering weekly training sessions for the first team squad throughout the season
-Managing/Coaching the team on all matchdays
-Liaising with the 1st XI Captain on all aspects of selection
-Work with the lead coach of the Ladies 2s, 3s, 4s to co-ordinate a playing strategy common throughout the ladies teams and identify talented players with 1st team potential who can train with senior squad
-Monitor and provide feedback to players on an individual and group basis
-Actively encourage and aid the development of youth talent
-Be an Ambassador and promote Leek Hockey Club within the hockey and broader communities
Experience:
Ideally, to hold a UK Level 2 (or equivalent) Coaching Qualification – This is negotiable
Must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU passport or valid work permit
Pay for role:
Competitive hourly rate to be discussed depending on level of qualification and previous experience
