Leek Ladies 1st XI played at home against Solihull Blossomfield this week. From the start Solihull were fast paced and strong on the ball but Leek responded well, using the transfer in defence to get out of the high press. With the pressure still high, Solihull snook through but goalkeeper Annie Shuttlewood made some great saves to prevent an early goal. The onslaught continued and they capitalised leaving the score at half time as 0-2. Leek retaliated in the second half, with Liv Bray making excellent leads in the midfield allowing Leek to break out of the press. Leek progressed forward but couldn’t capitalise in the D. Solihull continued to attack, earning a flurry of short corners, but Leek defended well and they didn’t score from any. The second half was full of determination from the leek side and they were unlucky not to score. The final score read 0-3 but Leek were proud of their performance and growing confidence in the game. Congratulations to Freya Hogg, making her 1st XI debut for Leek.
