Finchfield 2nd XI 5 Leek 2nd XI 2
After three high quality performances Leeks young 2nd XI came unstuck against an experienced Finchfield side.
A poor start saw Leek 2 goals down in the first few minutes as the South Staffordshire sides direct hockey caught Leek on the back foot. However, despite the slow start Leek responded well and played some high quality hockey with Noah Clark and Harry Mavin particularly prevalent. Leek won several penalty corners but the lack of an organised routine saw these chances wasted.
The away side dominated possession, however, it was the home side who struck again. Fin Prince was wrongly judged to have conceded a penalty corner and Finchfield showed Leek the way by converting a drag flick to extend their lead to 3-0. Once again Leek responded well and finally converted a corner with Mavin getting the finishing touch to a scrappy move.
Leek never got going in the second half as Finchfield extended their lead before Noah Clark converted a chance in the final two minutes to cap a good personal display.
Leek will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they entertain Stratford at Leek High School next weekend.
