Tamworth too strong for Leek

Leek welcomed a few new faces this week to face a strong and experienced Tamworth team.

In the first 10 minutes Leek were over run, struggling to maintain possession. Nicky Hanks had to leave the pitch almost straight after the start of the game sustaining the first hand injury of the game.

Tamworth scored two goals in quick succession having over run the Leek defence and left them wondering what had happened! However Leek reacted well showing some explosive play down the middle of the pitch and quickly won a penalty corner, pushed out by Hanks, slipped left by Kate Jones, smashed by Amy Sales, old school!

Tamworth maintained the pressure slotting away in another goal leaving it 3 - 1 at half time.

Leek returned to the pitch after half time more structured and vocal. However it was not to be Leek’s day and were up against an organised, disciplined side and Tamworth team slotted away 2 further goals to end the match at 5 -1.

Player of the match went to defender Sarah Deaville who worked tirelessly throughout the game.

Leek came away from the game somewhat dejected but some great teas and a beer with friends made the trip to Tamworth
