Leek ladies 4s played away at Keele university on Saturday. A first seniors game from, just turned 13, Jess Wright, and the return of Emily Boulton and Sarah Deaville.
Keele went 1-0 up early in the game but Leek held their own, with some fantastic passes between Emily and Tanya Petcova Leek scored a fantastic goal to tie 1-1. Leek battled hard, with some fantastic runs up the wing by Sarah Turner Bradbury, Jess, and Kat Parry, but ended the first half with Keele having scored 2 more to take the score to 3-1.
Nerea Ward-Banner and Liv Lawley worked fantastically in the centre and on the left wing, managing to get the ball through the Keele strength up towards Emily, with a very close 2nd goal missed out on by Leek. Despite some fantastic defence work between Sarah, Jaime Mumvuri, Megan Lawley and Lorna Housley-Tatton (her debut in the defence), and despite some fantastic saves by Beth Wooliscroft in goal, including a fantastic one handed push over the top of the goal, Keele managed to score twice more in the second half taking the score at the final whistle to 5-1.
Jess was voted man of the match having played a fantastic debut game, showing her growing talent, with Beth a close second after some incredibly calm cool, collected skill in Goal.
