The ladies 4s travelled to Bloxwich for their last game of the season. With only one debut from Miss B (Lynne Batigan) in goal, Leek took first push back. The first 15 minutes saw Bloxwich appearing the stronger team, pushing Leek constantly. However the tide turned and Leek began to push back. Leek forwards, Tash Bray and Sarah Turner Bradbury, had a few attempts in goal, with nothing coming from it as Bloxwich defence pushed back. With some amazing work in the defence by Jamie Mumvuri, Lorna Housley-Tatton and Nat Martin, and some fantastic saves by Miss B, Leek went into half time 0-0.
Some amazing work passing back and forth in the middle by Tanya Petcova, Clare Lawley and Jaime, saw Leek gaining a lot of time in Bloxwich’s half of the pitch. Leek went 1-0 up with some amazing hockey from Liv Lawley and Jess Wright, who was playing out of position. Liv ran up the left wing, around the backline of the D drawing the keeper out towards her, she passed the ball across the D to the back post and Jess pushed the ball into the goal. Gaining her first senior ladies goal in only her third game playing! Leek managed to carry on pushing Bloxwich, who only managed to push into the Leek half a few times in the second half of the game, with some fantastic blocking from Carla Critchlow, Leek were looking close to a win. The final whistle went as Leek carried on battling, securing a final win of the season, making for a very happy captain, Kat Parry! A fantastic, sunny day of hockey!
