2 points dropped but still unbeaten

After two home games on the bounce , Leek travelled to play Loughborough Town who were relegated from National League last year.

Leek started the brighter team and were playing g some lovely hockey. An early interception by Rich Cordon got Leek on the front foot. A lovely through ball went to Joe priestman, who's cross was just too far away from the attacking duo of Nathan Smith and Joe knott.

After scoring 4 goals in 4 games, Joe Priestman again stated brightly and the 1st chance came to him, however his shot was striaght at the keeper and Loughborough kept the clean sheet in tact. However the 1st goal of the game wasn't far away with Charlie Thackstone the one to break the deadlock.

Leek then had a wobble towards the end of the 1st half. Sloppy passing and a poor attempt at a clearance saw Loughborough go through on goal. The ball was squared past Adam Ford meant Bobby Dawson needed to make a last ditch tackle. However, the umpire blew for a penalty flick striaght away. A solid flick saw the scores level. Leek continued to play sloppy hockey but with just a minute to go until half time Dan Oneill managed to break through the line and on his trusted reverse stick slotted the ball past the keeper. 2-1 at half time.

The 2nd half continued in the same way for Leek with sloppy passes happening. Loughborough played higher up in Leeks half creating pressure. The ball went down Loughboroughs left and a quick cross found a player in the circle who deflected it past Adam Ford in Goal. Leek then found themselves in a position they have not been in much so far this season and behind in a game. A short corner was initially saved by leeks keeper however the rebound was sent goalbound which hit Rich Cordons body on the line. A second penalty stroke. A 3rd goal of the game for Loughborough.

With only a few moments left in the game Leek were awarded a short corner. A well worked routine saw Rich Cordon deflect the ball past the diving keeper.
A game which felt like 2 points dropped, but Leek must improve on their performance next week.
